With outdoor fireplaces and outdoor fire pits becoming quite a rage, many people are having them in their homes and enjoying having parties and get-togethers beside a roaring fire in their backyards. Primitive man always had food round a fire; either to have a hot dinner or to keep away the cold and the wild animals and we have inherited their instinct of enjoying having food outdoors around a fire pit.
Building a fire pit outdoors needs planning. You have to decide whether to go in for stone or some other material. You have to select the fuel material, you can have old fashioned cheery wood for heating, or you can have an electric fire or a gas one. You have also to decide whether to have a simple outdoor fire pit or an elaborate one. Once you decide on these points you can go in search of the material, keeping a watch on the limits of your pocket. You can build fire pits cheaply or you can go in for elaborate expensive ones. It depends on the extent of your social behavior; if you give parties often you need something permanent and durable. Otherwise you can experiment and change the fire pit as per your whims and fancies.
